It was quite the event and we are so blessed to have such a supportive family. 8 of Jack's grandpa's and uncles we able to assist in the blessing. Thank you everyone for coming. for a fabulous dinner last night. We had the Chef's tasting menu in which Chef Christopher Kostow didn't let us down. He took us on a wonderful food adventure. Mine and Kevin's pallet were challenged. Some of the dishes we ate were: cured horse Mackerel with green grapes, cherry tomatoes, sorbet of our verjus; foie grad "stump" with pear, parsnip, pistachio moss; squab lacquered in sorghum with garden carrots, coffee and dried habanero. Along with many others. There were also chefs bites at the beginning of the meal which were a great surprise. My favorite was the pre-dessert, dessert, then after dessert bites. mmmmmm :) Did I mention the lobster. I was never a fan, but I'll eat the lobster by Chef Chris any time I get a chance!

It was a wonderful night, with no kids, a great husband, delicious food, friendly servers, soothing atmosphere, impeccable attention to detail, and making us feel VIP.

This is kevin and I on our 5th course, the Squab. The bartender was even so kind to make us our own drinks because we don't drink alcohol. This one was my favorite. It was ginger ale, sparkling water, and lemon with apple.

Our menu is below. They gave me a copy when we left. I think because I had mentioned something about how was I going to remember and brag about all the wonderful food I had tonight. You know - prego mind. Plus all this food!

I felt a little silly taking pictures of all our beautiful food. Honestly, it was the most beautiful presentation I have ever seen!! So, I "borrowed" some pictures off their web sight to show you.

When we went to monterey we went to the aquarium first. The boys loved to look at the fish and Noah even touched the sea star. We saw some amazing ocean displays. The kids loved the sharks the best.

We also went to a fun park and did slides, played on an old train. It was a hit on the last day.

Silly hats we tried on from the store that we had to buy a stroller from. Yes we forgot a stroller- that was not the smartest move. Lesson learned- you will always need a stroller!!

We went and played on the beach 2 days. The boys loved the sand and the waves. Preston would love to have his dad jump the waves with him all day every day. Noah also got pretty good at the frisbee.

We even went on the 7 mile drive. It was beautiful. The boys didn't love it. We did get some good pictures, somehow we didn't get any with all 4 with us in it. Oh well.

Our trip was a blast and a great way to celebrate all our birthdays and anniversary. We are looking forward to our next beach trip.

Later that day we got invited to go swimming. Noah was excited that our friends had a mask and snorkel. He was a killer whale.

My dad (Alix) took us out on the lake the other day. We had some minor hiccups and the boat broke, but thank goodness we all had turns playing before we were stranded. We almost had to spend that night on the boat!! The Boys and I had a really fun time on the tube. The whole time they were yelling faster and I was yelling slow down!! I wish I had a tape recording of their laughter because it was priceless.
Noah also loved jumping off the boat. This is his spashly cannonball. Look at those hops.

Today for FHE we went to a park. The boys had fun going down the slide. Weeee! We also had them climbing up a tree. They were pretending to be monkeys. Look at those handsome boys!!!

4th of july fun. I love this holiday. We did our normal 3rd event at the country club. The kids decorated themselves with glow rings, ran around, and then we enjoyed the breath taking fireworks. Noah talked the entire time about the fireworks taking off and how they were taking off and all the knowledge he wanted to share. Preston LOVED them. When they were finished he said "all done... sad" with a pouty face. Thank you that silverado had a few extra fireworks you found and shot off after the finally.The boys playing angry birds while they are waiting.

Christmas 2010

Well, we will finally add something to the blog! We spent Christmas down at the Frye's with Kevin, Ginnie, Mark, John, Sarah, and Grandma and Grandpa Oveson from Provo. It was a lot of fun. We had a big dinner on Christmas Eve, Christmas story, some presents and movies.

Christmas morning the kids woke up early and we made them wait until 7:30 to go wake up the rest. Noah woke up Mark by head butting him. A far cry from the kiss I told him to give. The kids got a kitchen and some dragon stuff from Santa. They received a lot of presents and we were blessed with the generosity of many. The rest of the day we slept and played and played some more. I have a cold that some how got to my ear and I feel like I've got water in half my head. Think I tried everything possible with no success. Hopefully a good nights rest will do the trick. :)

We hope you had a wonderful christmas and miss all those we didnt get a chance to share it with.

Summer Fun

We had a bunch of fun this summer. There is a splash park close to us that we went to a few times. The kids had a great time
The Boy, I, and John went bike riding in San Fran. Preston hated having me buckle him in. I had to do the karate chop action. The people at the rental place were thinking this lady is insane. But after we started going he was laughing and having a blast. I was the worry one. I dint want to fall and drop him.

This was the best $3 that I spent. The boys played in this pool for hours a day. I lost a bunch of my measuring cups- but a small price to pay for hour of cool fun.

Noah turns 4

Noah turned 4 this year and we had a friends birthday Party. We had a chef party. Each kids had their own oven out of cardboard boxes and paper. We also made hats, pizza, and decorated cookies. This was Noah's first friends birthday party.

I have always wanted to write a book. And I have decided that I need to follow that dream. While thinking about this adventure an idea came to mind to start a blog about my life. " I wish I was an Octopus: How I balance who I want to be, who I need to be, and well who I am." It will be about me and my kids and my family. And how I try to keep my life a float. I have written a few posts on this Wilcox's blog and seems like people are liking it.

I believe that if I get enough people to follow my new blog, write comments, and share it with people that something good will happen. I have a few people who could be interested and point me in the right direction. But I want to present them with something that is in the works. I dunno. I am thinking 6 months of posts. I know that this is a total looooong shot. And hopefully a book does come out of it, or maybe just a popular blog - thus enticing people to advertise. Anyone interested??? I just have to say I feel good about this. I have been feeling for a while that I need some type of new adventure. I can do this and still be a mom.

PPost-it label pads. A lady is dancing around because everything in her house is color coded and organized and just perfect. I know that is the impossible dream, but one that would be so fun to live in. Organization and office supplies I love you. The other day I looked into my money organizer and saw that I still had some birthday money and was thinking about all the fun ways I could spend it. Money, clothing, food, a small vacation ( probably could only afford to go to the next city), then after I saw this commercial I knew. Date night is coming up and I am going to take my husband to the office supply store and get office supplies. I'm thinking I am going to have to surprise him- that way he is stuck :). He does not share my love.

I must have orgainization on my mind because the other day I was at the grocery store and I was daydreaming. I was thinking how fun it would be to go to the store with seven boxes that fit nicely in my cart. The seven boxes would be for each day of the week. I would then grocery shop and put the items in their appropiate box. That way I cant over or under buy and they would be in fun little boxes. Then I would have them placed in grocery bags still all organized and I would have seven boxes in my pantry and seven in my fridge - all labeled of course and I would divey out the food where it goes. Just think of how much time I would save and how awsome it would look. It just makes me smile of how jealious all my friends would be and they would adopt the new trend and I could start a line of "green" boxes from market to home. But that idea crashed and burned when I told my friends of my great day dream and I got this puzzled look from them.
Well as my son says on his birthday. " I wish, I wish , I wish.

Fueling the good person

Lately Noah has been very interested in coffee. Why do our not drink coffee? Why do other people drink it and not us? Apparently all the reasons that I gave him were not acceptable (which is normal) he made his own observations. A little background on my son before the story. He loves trains and cars and thinks that he consumes water and food as fuel like cars and trains do. So him asking for fuel or energy would be the same as a kids asking for a drink of water or milk. Back to the story. After Noah asking question after question about coffee and me giving answer after answer he says " oh I know why we don't drink coffee. When we drink water it fuels our good person and when we drink coffee it fuels our bad person. And we don't want to fuel our bad person, so we should not drink coffee." There you have it fokes. If you don't want to fuel your bad person don't drink coffee. How he gets these ideas is beyond me. But the fact that he comes up with his own answers inspires me.

Just to let everyone know Noah has been banned from markers for a while. Today while I was watching them- well lack there of. I found that Noah had color his younger brother Preston with Markers. He must have ran out of paper. Which is odd because we have so much paper I have no idea what to do with it all. But lately he is a coloring craze and your younger brother is something that you just don't get to color every day. I am guessing that Preston was ok with it since he did not cry about it. As a good parent I am, I just said "ok" because it was my fault. I have clarified, to my son, that we do not color on the walls, or my kitchen table, or our toy cars. I must have miss YOUR BROTHER!! And if you know my Noah you must know that you must clarify all aspects of all the rules. He is just barley 4 and will find the chinks in all rules. Anyways, we ended up taking a mid afternoon bath. I must say that now I am going to have to go and buy the book. Purple, Green and Yellow by Robert N. Munsch.

It is a wonderful book about a girl who gets markers and colors her dad while is is sleeping. Great book. I wonder if Robert ever had a first hand experience of actually coloring his sibling or he got to take the parent role - like I did today. ???

Sorry no pictures. I need to learn. Take pictures. Just have to hope it does not backfire- and encourage bad thing. But maybe I could sell a book about all the things that my kids do and all things that they get into. Hmmm idea. New Anne Geddes line????

disneyland 2010

My sister was leaving on her mission so we decided to spend some time together and go to Disneyland. I dont have a ton of pics because my camera was being funky and my sister didnt give me hers before she left, but here is what I have.

It was a fun trip, and a long drive. We went to the park for 3 days. It was a lot more crowded that we thought it was. Everyone was there thinking that it was a good time because we thought no one would be there. The kiddie rides were crazy busy. It was good that Noah liked to ride the big rides. He loved tower of terror. He said it was scary but then kept asking to go on it. He was quite the celebrity on the ride because everyone was like this kid likes it and was so amazed that he did. He also liked space mountain- because it was his dad's favorite ride. His all time favorite was the toy story ride where you shoot the aliens. We went on that alot! Thank goodness the line was always short for that. Splash Mountain was also a favorite but we went on that one twice because the line was super long. christine went with him first. we he saw the big drop he asked her " is that what we are going on" she was hesitant but said yes. he said "awsome" and held his hands up the whole time. THEN when i went on with him he told me to put up my hands and to not be afraid.

Preston was a handful and didnt like the lines. he wanted to just walk around- where ever. But he did like his lightup toy and was a trooper for staying in the stroller.

Preston has turned the big one. Crazy. While I am being the typical mom and I'm sad that he is growing up to fast, kevin is excited to see his boy growing up and is excited to see that he is excited to walk soon. Noah was excited to that preston can play with him and that he got cake. His birthday was on Monday and we had a little party with a cupcake, then on Tuesday we went down to the grandparents to have a combined party with John. And he got his own cake. It was a party.

santa Train

Since Noah loves, loves, loves tains we thought it would be fun this year to go on the Santa Train in Napa. Napa has a wine train that runs daily up the valley and serves wine while going up the valley and through the vineyards. For christmas time they do a hour and half train ride and serve hot coco and santa and all his friends come and say hi to the kids. It was a lot of fun. I hope this is something we continue do do for a while.

Noah was so excited to see the conductor!! He wanted to show him his trains. I thought the conductor was so sweet to care that this three year old boy was so excited to see him. I think Noah was more excited to see the conductor than santa.
My dad could not join us- he had to work. But he wanted in on the fun so he drove by and said hi as we were passing by. Hi dad!!

P Crawling

Pretson has been crawling backwards, circles, and when you dont watch, forwards!!! In a matter of seconds when you didnt watch he would crawl over to Noahs train tracks and destroy them. We had seen him crawl, but only small amounts. This morning, Hot Air Balloons were flying right over our house, so we walked outside to see them as they were only 50ft in the air. When we turned around, Preston was at the door to greet us. He had crawled about 10-15ft. So, we set him down to do it again and as you can see in the video he gets distracted, but eventually he makes it there. As long as no one is watching, he crawls fast, but when you want him to, he does it at his pace and just throws a lot of smiles your way. Noah got lucky that a friend of ours had a nephew who had grown out of the train stage. So, Noah got a huge thomas train set and more. We gave him the train track but not all of the engines as we have a grocery bag full of engines this kid has as well. Finally, I got home from business to make the track. Its a big track and he sticks his trains on it and has a lot of fun. There is a whole other part to this track I didnt add for cars and then another track with airport and shopping stops, but I figured this was more then big enough!!!

Preston is now crawling, so he torments Noah by taking his engines and breaking the tracks. Alix is going to love that during the day! I took a small video with my phone of Noah running the engines and trying to make them not crash, but some are faster then others. Preston is sitting there getting ready to pounce and showing off his crawling skills/sitting up from a flat position.

Since it is October its pumpkin time. I didn't want to do Noah and pumpkin mess and so when I saw this cool Mr. Potato head pirate pumpkin kit I thought score. 1. Mr. Potato head- we love that since Disney and seeing Toy Story in the theaters, 2. pirates- because our new favorite movie is Peter Pan. He sings "yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me" all the time. and 3rd its October and Noah loves pumpkins.

Kevin has been traveling alot for work. Noah likes to take over the male role model and take care of his Mom when his Kevin is gone. Noah is making me dinner. Cookin up some rolls. No the BBQ is not on. He has not learned that yet. But my smart little guy will probably do that soon and I am sure I will have to Noah proof that also. *sigh*

I got a coupon to take photos so I went and took photos. I had to take pictures to see what I thought of them . I loved the one of Preston. If he opened his mouth you would see his tooth.

We were hanging out at Alix's parent's home and Noah wanted to wear big boy underwear like his uncle John- well they didn't fit. So just like men- they used duck tape to fix the problem. oh John and Noah you two are funny.

Disneyland

For Kevin, Mine(alix) and noah's birthday we went down to Disneyland for a few days. We had a wonderful time. My sister Christine came with us and then my family came down for one day. It was an exausting and extreamly hot but we had a wonderful time. We also picked a great time to go because the whole park was still open but we had little to no lines. We road the rides over and over and over again. Thank goodness we had three adults who could take turns. Noah loved autotopia, peter pan, pirates, the roller coaster in Mickey town, and splash mountain. He now does pirate faces in all his pictures. He thought Splash Mountain was a big slide. He thought soaring over CA was a fun ride and even found my parents house. We even road the train. Noah called it the Locomotive train. When we got back home he was dissapointed with a little train we had. He wanted the Disneyland Locomotive train. How can I blame him :) We also met Mickey but he was scary. He also loved the fireworks. Preston also loved the fireworks and just laughed through them all. He was wonderful the whole time. I think that he was on sensory overload. We had a wonderful time. Noah keeps asking when we can go back. I am also asking Kevin when we can go back. We ended up getting season passes so that we can just get in the car and go. SO FUN!!! Noah turns 3

We celebrated Noah's 3rd birthday about a week and a half ago. We gave Noah Disneyland... and a whole lot of other train stuff for his birthday so we had to celebrate before we left. My sister Christine was coming with us and we needed to leave before she went back to school. Noah is giving his grandma a thank you hug.

It's been 5 years. WOW!!! We went out to dinner at Cindy's. I love this place. We had a lot of yummie food. Thanks for a great 5 years. Look how far we have come We then went for a walk and got this car and kevin got be an eitable arrangement. Which is a big fruit basket in the shape of flowers.

adventures with christine

My sister Christine is home from the summer and so we have decided that we needed to go on alot of adventures while she is in town. She is home for the sumer working at the Napa Valley Opera House. The NVOP put on a concert at Mondavi, a winery, featuring Smokey Robinson . It was wonderful. Its just in this big court yard and everyone brings yummie food and lawn chairs. So to sum it up I ate cheese, bread, grapes, cookies, and other yummies, while sitting in a beautiful vinyard, chatting with my sister, and listened to Smokey live. I have such a good life. It was a blast and i'm sad that the summer concerts are over for the season. Thanks christine!! You have the best job ever :)

The next adventure was going to San Fran to ride public transportation. We rode the ferry in.
Christine knew the caption and he let Noah help him drive the boat.
And blow the big horn. He thought that was fun.
After we road the ferry we went on the metro and our adventure turned into a food odyssey. We took the BART into the mission district to find ice-cream. We have no pictures of BART, because well its BART and its yuckie and the stop that we took was probably not the best part of San Fran and I already felt like we were a walking target. Two girls, two kids, pushing a stroller and holding a baby.

Back to the ice cream. We went to this place called BI-Rite. I had heard about it on the food network. It has all these crazy flavors like salted carmel, and honey lavender, ginger, ect.. see below. Well they are very nice and let you try all the flavors. We told the lady we were on a food odyssey and she was so excited that she was making us try all these fun flavors. It's in the hippy district so you get to try all the ice cream on real spoons, but they are very eclectic. Anyways we ended up getting a Sam's Sunday. It's chocolate ice cream, with olive oil, sea salt, and whip cream. SOUNDS WIERD- but oh so good. We ended up walking over to a park and eating it while enjoying the SAN Fran sun. What a wonderful day in the city. We are going to make the adventure again :)

Kevin's birthday 28 on 28th

Since it was kevin's golden birthday I (Alix) decided to through him a surprise birthday party. We invited a bunch of people from the ward and my family came up. He was almost suprised. Thats a bummer. It was fun. We had cake, ice cream and even a Pinata. My two sisters came up early to decorate. We had balloons everywhere and Sarah made 28 signs that said happy 28th on the 28th.

I wanted to have the movie Up from Disney be there theme of the party, but it is still to recent and they didn't have any decoration. I am still on the look out for a kevin bird from the movie.

We once again made the 990 mile adventure to Lake Powell, which is in southern Utah. We had a blast!! The week is all about swimming, boat, and bonding with the family. This is a Frye Family (Alix's family) tradition.

This is the definace house which we walked up to. Its a old native american home. We told noah we were going to an indian house and when we got there he asked where is the indian home and we said this is it. He was not impressed.

John and Noah on the boat. Noah was not a big fan of the boat at first and would always complain that it was too bumpy or that we were going to fast. He would say " slow it down" then my siblings thought it would be funny to have him say "slow it down for all you lovers out there". He liked it at the end and would help drive even.

This was just a pretty picture. The colors didn't turn out quite right. The sky was so blue it almost looked purple. Just the family swimming. We did a lot of swimming, it was HOT!!

It is a tradition to go on Father's and Son's and Kevin got to take Noah this year. They went with Alix's family because Kevin was going to be gone the weekend of our ward's. The boys had a blast. Noah loved sleeping in a tent and using the outside restroom. Oh the joys of a two year old boy!!No Preston didn't get to go to fathers and Son's this year but i thought it was a cute picture of two studly boys

At the Lagoon

Alix and Noah went off to the Lagoon one day and decided I should come as well some evening, so last week we went. It was crazy. We got out of the car and about 200 ducks and geese came over. I have never seen so many and not scared at all. I mean right in your face trying to get food. I tried to throw some food so they would go after it, but they just waited for me to give it right to them. Eventually, we had to escape and they chased us. In the process of throwing them bread as they chased us, I chucked my phone, so I had to go in the middle of them and get it. We finally got far enough away that Noah could play on the truck they have, but he wanted to feed them, so the second we fed one, about 20 came over, but at least the whole group didnt as they couldnt see us. Noah had fun and they are very aggressive, so it was good he could be in the back of the truck as they will fight to get the food. Even the little birds showed up, it was crazy. There are well over a thousand geese and ducks and if you go any where near them with food, they will attack you for it! It was fun though and Noah liked it although he does get scared when they charge him. Here are a couple of videos as well on you tube.

For Family Night, we were invited to go swimming with friends. It had been very hot for a few days, but of course it cooled down to like 95 on Monday. By the time we got there that evening, it was down to like 70 because of the shade, but the pool was very warm so Noah and I had a blast. Preston of course decided sleeping was more fun then getting in the pool with his brother and dad, kind of like his mom. She just decided to chat with all her friends and never got in even though it was warmer in the pool then out on the chairs. So, Noah and I jumped off the diving board over and over again. I drenched all the kids with large splashes which unfortunately they enjoyed and wanted me to continually do it again. I guess my fat body comes in good for something!

The photos are of a toy Preston got so he can lay down and do something. As you can see Noah likes to help! The other pictures are of Preston ready to go swimming with a hat. I believe someone gave us the swim outfit, so Alix made sure to get it all on. He always smiles now, but I never had the camera, so for most of you this would be the first time to see him smile. He is a happy baby although he does like to be held quite a bit. Sometimes he wont care for hours and then sometimes he wont sleep and just wants to be held all day long, so thats life. As I take more pics of him smiling I will get him on. If we can get a video of him laughing as he does that as well, I'll put it on for you!

As now life as settled down a little bit I (Alix) thought I would post a few pictures of what we have been up to. Kevin and Noah went to Father's and Son's camp out and had a blast. Noah thought that camping was a blast. When he woke up he said "did we have a sleep over". He has been asking to go on more camp-outs. Besides running around, Noah spends time with his trains. He has also picked up the joy of reading. I am so proud of my little boy . Enjoy!!

Easter

I did this post about 2 weeks ago now and just realized I forgot to post it. I am amazingly smart!!! So, I am reposting it for people to see and we will try to add some pics and vids of when my mom and dad were here a week ago. Although, my dads computer broke, so we are waiting to get some pics from them, but for the meantime, I will try to do a new post with some of those pics.

We went to the Wagner's, long time friends of Alix's family for the easter egg hunt Friday morning. They moved it as it is spring break here. Lots of kids got to run around and find eggs. Noah had a lot of fun and he even had both Grandma's there to share it with. Preston had his first Easter, but he didnt do too much!!!

Noah also got a kite that is a P-51. It needs about 15 mph to fly so as you can see in the video it didnt want to fly, but Noah made us try either way on two separate days. It will be a cool kite once we get enough wind to fly it. Noah had a lot of fun and liked to run with the string as far away as possible which made it really hard to not get tangled while running to get the kite in the air!

Preston Update

Well, I thought I would add some video links and photos for everyone to take a look at. Now, these are about a week old, all from last Saturday, but I figured everyone would be glad to see something. We will get some new stuff this weekend to add on as well.

Preston has been to the park a few times with Mom and Noah. They have been running lots of errands and things. He is still doing about the same, no real changes. He is sleeping about one setting through the night, normally from 10-2 or if Alix is lucky 4! He sleeps a lot during the day, but he is just enjoying life.

Noah is wanting attention and Alix is being Super Mom forfeiting sleeping to accommodate for Noah. Noah does love Preston and is very protective. He always wants to help and stop him from crying and always shares, so you cant ask for much more then that.

Besides that, things are going well. I try to help all that I can, but its hard working and helping. We are just plugging along and trying to change our lives to raising two kids, which isnt too bad!!!

Baby Preston has made it!!!

It was a very long day that started at 3 a.m. Alix was feeling some heavy contractions and by 6 a.m. we were on our way to the hospital. Alix had been dialated to a 3 on Friday and was at a 5 when we arrived. We assumed it would all go pretty fast, but the baby wanted to be stubborn like our other son. They gave Alix the epidural and broke her water, but it still took many more hours. There were some scary moments at times with the baby's heart rate dropping drastically, which we later found out was due to the cord wrapped twice around his neck. They though about a c-section, but Alix really waned to do this natural. They were able to stabilize Alix and the baby with some medicine and oxygen. Finally, after some much needed rest Alix made it to a 10. She tried to push for a bit, but the baby had not dropped enough for it to happen. So, in the meantime Alix's family came to visit and distract Alix. About 30 minutes later, she was ready. She pushed for probably a couple of hours including what she had already done, but the baby would just not come. Good friend of the family Dr. Mike Wagner was the one delivering, but even with the suction cup, he just didn't want to come out. After a long time, he finally had to help Alix and do some snipping to make room for the baby to come out. Instantly, he came out on the next contraction and I was there to pull him out. Man are they slippery!!!

The baby and mom are doing great. He is 8 lbs 9 oz and 21.5 inches long. A big kid. As big as Noah was at 2 months and we all know how big Noah is now! All in all it went fine with some minor complication. The suction cup did produce one nasty lump on the baby's head because he wouldn't come and he has little blisters and a huge bruise now. They say he must have a huge headache and I am sure he does. He didn't sleep for the first 6 hours until they gave him some tylenol. He's hurting!

Alix is doing okay, but they are keeping her for observation until Tuesday just in case as she has some complications down below. Nothing big, but always better safe then sorry.

As for me, I got to hold my two boys at the same time and it was quite amazing! A feeling I while hang on to for some time. Dont know if there is a greater feeling then holding someone who was just so recently a spirit with God. I look forward to many years of fun with my boys and especially when my dad comes down to play with them at the same time. It will be quite the party/plane flying event with two boys fling their airplanes by hand and Dad and Grandpa flying in the air.

Noah is excited and even chose to wear his "I am a Big Brother" T-shirt to church with the grandparents. He is aware of what has happened, but I think he will get the full grasp as he wakes up to the baby crying when we are all back at the house!

Christmas Lights

I have pretty much finished the Christmas lights finally. Still a few strands to throw in the bushes right in front of the house, but besides that it looks decent. Too many cars in the street, so I couldnt back away very easily to pan out and focus in. Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas and enjoying the season!

Christmas is off and running. I got as many of the lights up as possible. Unfortunately I switched around the icicle lights in the middle of the strand and had to restring them after it was dark to be able to run power. Still, we got it going. Still have to add some more snowmen and santa clauses to the front and some more lights in different places, but its looking ok. Got it set on a timer as well, so simplifies when they go on and off. First year I have been able to really do lights at my own house, so it was a lot of fun. Enjoy the quick video and we will get some more up when its all done!

Flying

Alix and I got our Christmas present a littler early. We bought a sony hd camera, so here are some first takes with it. Of course, the video is suppressed on the blog, so wont be anything amazing here, but its a nice camera. Havent been able to take much with Noah yet, but will be adding videos of him shortly as well. At least this way the rest of his life wont be in 10 second clips on our digital camera!

The clips are of the new edge and the vecjet. The vecjet is hard to see in the video because the video is small and so is the plane itself. But, you can get the picture of the speed it has and the climb rate if you watch closely. The edge flies great although I had a little hard landing or the touch and go did it. Compressed the fuselage a little right underneath one side of the landing gear, but easy fix and already is done. Ready to fly again!

New Edge

Well, finally got the edge done and in the air. Alix took a small video of the take off and the landing and did a good job. Especially considering my transmitter was beeping and saying dead battery, so I had to bring it in quick and she caught it. As you can see Noah loves to go flying and that is pretty much what he asks to do all day long. He brings out his planes and lines them up with mine. He flies them around and if you listen you can hear him making sounds in the background. He wasnt too happy when we had to leave, but he never is when we take him away from flying!

Halloween

Yeah for halloween. This year his mom made him an airplane costume. He like flying- and he liked his "cool eyes" aka his goggles. We went trunk or treating with Alix's family. That was a little overwhelming for Noah and a scary money costume freaked him out. He kept saying that Halloween was scary and was very worried that the monster was going to get John, so he helped John pass out candy. Then we went to the neighborhoods and that was a big hit. The houses were not scary, they were happy houses. Noah loved it and was amazed each time that he got "more candy" It was alot of fun and everyone loved his costume.

We just got back from Monterey. We have not gone on a family vacation as just a family for a long time. We went to the beach and the aquarium. Noah saw lots of big fish, sharks, and nemo. He loved the beach and chasing the waves. We had a wonderful time.

Vacation To Washington in July

We went to Washington for vacation in mid july. We visited the grandparents, Tiff and Jeremiah, and had a lot of fun. Noah enjoyed the beach, bubbles, and planes! The beach was nice for me until I tried to get a ball for Brynley and fell down a rock face and I still probably need to go to the doctor for it! Too expensive! Jen had her baby shower and the girls had fun at that while we hit the lynx. All in all it was a great trip and great weather!

Since Noah has been born, he has not been fond of the water. I normally forced him to get in and he cried a little, laughed, and then cried some more. Last weekend, Alix was down in Napa and I guess he decided jumping into a pool was a lot of fun. I had to be down in Napa for some business, so I had to see Noah in action for myself. He hasnt gotten the idea of swimming, so if you let him go, he will take a large drink of water, but as long as you hold on to him he has a great time. I even got him to take some jumps off the diving board. He just laughs and you count to three and he jumps. Should be a lot of fun this summer going down to the in-laws and playing with Noah in the pool!

Noah Ice Skating

Noah went ice skating for the first time. He thought it was great except when he fell and the ice made him a little wet and cold. Alix's family was there to skate with him and help him learn to stand on skates. It was fun, but they wouldnt let us pick him up, so that turned out to be a challenge. All in all, it was great and I am sure we will be back soon!

New Car

Here is the new car. Sorry the outside pics went to the bottom. It is an Audi A6 4.2. It has 350 horse power and is very fun to drive. Very smooth. After driving the BMW and this, the Audi just seemed like a much nicer ride and so much nicer interior. There are a lot of cool features and I am just figuring them all out now. Probably the coolest feature is the fact that the keys never have to leave your pocket. You walk up to the door, it senses you are there and it unlocks. You just sit down, push the start button and it starts and the keys stay in the pocket. Its a lot of fun. Kind of weird though to shut off the car and reach for the keys and not have them be there. That has taken some getting used to.

Noah's New Bed

Here is Noahs new bed. He loves to jump on it. He is starting to go to sleep better and not fight, but he did figure out how to open his door, so he will get up and open it. It is a constant battle to try to keep him in when he really doesnt want to go to sleep, but he is learning and so are we.

What a fun weekend we had. We went to go play with Kevin's family. First we went and played at the beach for the day. It was a really nice day. At first Noah was afraid, but then he got brave and had a blast. He loved rubbing his hair in the sand and throwing it... in the water, in the sand, at his dad, at his cousins. He was covered in sand when we were done- which means we had a lot of fun.

The next day we took the kids and ran a bunch of errands. By the time we were done the kids were hot (it was 90) and the needed to get their wiggles out. So we played in the sprinklers. Kevin and his dad built the birthday plane but it broke on its first flight. Bummer.

Finally the big day. Abby's shower. It was a lot of fun and worth the whole trip. I made the fruit display which was a lot of fun.

Noah Loves to Jump

Noah no longer wants to be in his crib. He has fallen out trying to get out a few times, so we are in the process of getting him a new bed. He does love to jump though. He will do it all day if you let him and he gets pretty high for such a little guy!

Noah got his first bike this weekend. His birthday was just too far away to wait to get a bike. This way he can go to the park in style everyday. Mom can steer in the back as noah hasnt figured out the pedaling thing just yet. He can do it backwards though! I think everything he does, he does backwards first. It should make for a very fun childhood!

Noah at the Zoo

Today Noah and Mia(his friend) went to the zoo. They loved the dump truck and fake alligator. The animals.... not a big hit.

Noah likes to add a little zip to his life. The act of walking anywhere is just to boring for him. He like to jump, hop and skip to what ever destination he is headed to. His dad is also very determined to teach Noah what he feels are the most important words in the English language. :)

One of Noah and Alix's favorite past times is taking videos. Noah likes to then re watch them on the camera or computer. He likes to imitate what he is doing in the videos.

Noah's Growing Up

We havent had a chance to update the blog in a while. We both have been gone it seems every weekend and in opposite places. Noah was talking to my parents on the phone and they realized how much he had grown up, so we though we would add a video so you can see little Noah talking and dancing.

Noah is talking like crazy. He seems to pick up tons of new words every day. They were in Utah for the weekend and he came back saying all sorts of new things. His favorite movies are Nemo and Cars. He says "memo" and he says "kichao" for cars. No idea how to spell that but that is what lightning McQueen says all the time. He would watch them all day long if we let him, so it's a battle at times. He is growing up fast and he looks like a little boy now.

Easter 2008

Our Easter weekend was filled with lots of fun filled/crazy events. It all started with Alix getting sick. She thought she just had a zit or something on her face. She woke up the next morning and her lip was numb and swollen. She thought she would wait to go to the doctor, but it was obvious she needed to see one. We saw a doctor that was a friend of the family in Napa and he got her on some antibiotics, but the next morning it was worse so she went in. The doctor didn't really do much and sent Alix home. Friday morning the swelling had reached her eye and in Alix's words, "I look like a freak." So, she couldnt get into the doctor as they said there were no appointments, but she went down and forced her way in. They sent her to the hospital where they did tests, but couldnt confirm that she had MRSA so they just lanced it, gave her shots, more drugs, and sent her home. We wont know until Monday if it is MRSA, if it is, she is probably going to the hospital for a day or so to get drugged up. That is probably what will happen. For the meantime she is trying to put on a happy face for Easter, but she is in pain so we do the best to try to ease the pain

Even though all of this is going on, we still decided to do Easter. Saturday morning some friends in Napa have their annual easter egg hunt so we went over there. There are some pics and vids of Noah of that. After that, we came back and did Easter with Alix's family in the afternoon. Noah searched for his eggs and found his cars inside the eggs. Noah got some books and lots of candy for easter. Doesnt really like the candy actually. He will start to eat it and then spit it out, so we have lots of chocolate stains and hand prints everywhere. All in all, it has been a great Easter weekend so far and we just hope our luck can improve with our health. Happy Easter everyone!

Funny Noah

Here are some fun pics of Noah we took tonight and over the last few days. He was eating pasta and wiping the sauce on Mom and in his hair. We went to Uncle John's swim meet. Besides the speedos, we had a good time. Noah really liked the goggles and he kept wanting to put them on. He also kept trying to go after John, but one time he couldnt tell which one was John and all of the guys had speedos on. We will just say Noah chose wrong and pinched someone on the butt. Luckily, it was a friend of the fam.

Past Year Highlights

We know there were certain videos that people have enjoyed over the last year, so we thought we would add some highlights of the past year for everyone to see.

Noah loves to stick on daddy's boxing gloves and take out his frustrations. Sometimes he just gets rid of the gloves and hits it.

Noah knows how to shake his hips better than any of us. He proves that here. If you tell Noah to dance, this is what he does. Noah started to eat his cake before we even got a chance to sing. So, I decided to help him out and just let him stick his face right in it. I wish someone would do that for me!!!

Noah at the Park

Dad and Noah had tried to go to the park all week with no luck. Getting home at 6 doesnt help. So, finally on Friday, we got to go to the park and play for a bit. There are some good pics of the little man. He has learned how to climb ladders and even though he thinks he is stuck at times, eventually he gets up the ladder and down the slide.

Noah Loves to Read

He goes into his room all the time with his reading pillow and grabs books to reads. He loves to look at dads airplane magazines and make noises when he see the planes. Then, he tears it apart. He makes sounds and enjoys making the animal sounds that he knows. Mom reads with him all day and probably is his favorite time of the day. A couple of books at night and then its night night.

P-51 Build

The P-51 is progressing slowly. Havent had the time or money to do much. Man, it is amazing how much building can end up costing. For the meantime, I have started the last of the building phase. The wing fillets are done for now. Of course, I will touch them up and make sure they are perfect later on, but they look good for now. The red is a polish I use after I have the first set of sanding done. It actually gives it a hard surface to sand against, so I take off less of the filler as I sand. Seems to work well and besides some small little bits that come off in the sanding, I think it is as smooth as I am going to get it. Did some sanding on the fuselage as well as I could see in the vids that it was looking funny. So, it is getting there. Had to be very inventive in all of the sanding lately to really make it look right. Had five cylindrical sanders I made from a broom handle to Noah's teething tablet bottles. Had to slowly progress the sanding so it would give the correct shape. On the fuselage, I actually took the roll of sandpaper I use to apply to my sanding bar. I took a 12 inch piece and started sanding across the whole thing. It started working really well as I could sand the whole top of the fuselage evenly. Really cleaned up the hard edges from sanding with sanding blocks. Hope you enjoy the vids. Unfortunately, there is no sound or maybe that is fortunate. The mircophone was off and was to lazy to reshoot all of the vids.

The process has been a long and painful one at times, but it has come a long slowly. Probably somewhere over 200 hours with Noah helping a lot. He loves to play in the garage. Luckily, someone gave me a couple of old planes, so Noah likes to tear those apart. Haven't had a chance to really work on the plane lately, but the main building is done. Lots of sanding and finishing work to be done now, the real fun stuff!
